learn about our history

One of the most effective ways to improve the economic well-being of any nation or its people is
through the provision of opportunities for its youth. A story is told of a teacher who was sent to a school
to teach Communication & Information Technology (ICT) in a Junior High School in one of the regional
capitals of Ghana. To his shock and amazement, when he got to the school, there wasn’t even a mouse
in the computer lab where he was required to teach computing. How does one teach computer science
without computers? These were teenagers who would be competing with students all over the world for
the jobs of the future, yet, here they were learning computer science in an empty computer lab. If this is
the situation in a school in a regional capital, what would be the situation in the districts and small
towns.
Over the last 12 years, we have had the opportunity of interacting with Ghanaians living in different
parts of the world. One thing that has been undeniable is that given the same opportunities that are
available to their counterparts in developed countries, Ghanaians have always exceled and been able to
compete in any sphere of life. It is the desire to provide some of these opportunities right home in
Ghana that led to the formation of the EQO Foundation.

The mission of the Foundation is to mobilize resources and channel them into programs and activities that will provide opportunities for young people across the educational spectrum in Ghana, to help them become competitive in tomorrow’s world.
